Sears

Incredulous, but likely to happen, Sears, at one time the most ubiquitous name in the retail trade, may declare bankruptcy.

Sears had stores in almost every fair-sized town with a population that would make them profitable. For those people living on a farm, a Sears catalogue was given. Two-inches thick, it pictured thousands of items that could be ordered by mail. It was also used as toilet paper.

People no longer have to shop in stores. The internet and food delivery services make your needs easy to obtain. Simply pick up the phone, call your favorite restaurant and the ordered food will be delivered to your door still hot. Great for the homebound. Progress? Maybe.

For me and my wife Betty, we still enjoy the luxury of eating in one of our favorite specialty restaurants.

Each to his own.
